Q.1. Laboratory Thermometer cannot be used to measure body temperature.

1. In a laboratory thermometer, kink is absent. This is because laboratory thermometer is meant to measures immediate temperature. Hence, after recording our body temperature, until we check it, the mercury will fall, thus not giving us an accurate reading.

2. Expansion on heating can be of nuisance .

Examples of nuisance of thermal expansion :-

1 ) Due to high temperature in hot summer,  the railway rails may expand and change. This may cause derailment of trains which travel on the track .

2)In similar way,in steel bridges ,one end is made to rest on rollers , with enough space provided for expansion in summer. If this is not done , accidents can occur.
