Give reason for the following statement: the volume of water does not change when one tablespoon full of salt is added to 100 ml of water

There is no change in volume of 100ml of water when a tablespoon of salt is added. This is because water has large intermolecular space compared to solids. When salt is dissolved it occupies this space. There is no change in volume. Density of water increases.
