Dear Student,

● Explaination -

  • Naphthalene has a property to undergo sublimation. i.e. direct transition from solid to gas state.
  • Hence, naphthalene balls disappear with time without leaving any solid.

● Extra information -

  • Transition of substance from solid phase to gas phase without passing through liquid phase is called sublimation.
  • Substances that undergo sublimation are - dry ice, napthalene (moth balls), solid iodine, wax, ammonium chloride.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
