as you know a forest consists of a lot of Grey and a lot of 3 requires a lot of water so when there is a heavy rain all the water is absorbed by the soil and taken up by the trees for transpiration and other processes in our example you can think that when heavy flood occurs trees act like rocks which prevent the flow of water or reduce the speed of water so that water can keep into the soil without going too fast
