i) Can the process of rusting be called combustion?

ii) Arjun and Avinash were doing an experiment in which water was to be

heated in a beaker. Arjun kept the beaker near the wick in the yellow part of

the candle flame while Avinash kept the beaker in the outermost part of the

flame. Whose water will get heated in a shorter duration?

iii) Salma‟s mother was using kerosene oil stove for cooking. Salma suggested

her mother to use LPG cylinder. Give 2 reasons why she advised her mother

for using LPG instead of Kerosene oil?

Yes, rusting us also a type of combustion but slow combustion.

Beaker kept by Avinash will be heated faster.

LPG Advantages:
1) It produces less or no smoke which is healthful.
2) It do not pollute atmosphere.

1. yes, the process of rusting can be called combustion. combustion is a process in which an object reacts with oxygen. a rusting is a process in which iron reacts with oxygen. therefore it is combustion (slow combustion).

2. Avinesh's beaker will get heated in shorter time because he kept the beaker in the outermost part of the flame. and the outermost zone of flame is the hottest part.

3. she advised her mother to use LPG because:-

→ it is a clean fuel.
→ it doesn't produce any harmful gas after burning.

whereas kerosene is not a clean fuel and produce harmful gases when it's burned.
