1. as we know taht ionic compounds are formed between a metal n a nonmetal and the electron is transfered frm the metal to non metal and hence making the metal positively charged and nonmetal negatively charged and thus the opposiely charged ions attracts each other ..they are held together with a strong electostatic force hence it is vry difficult to break ther bond existing between it therefore they have high melting point.
