Individual have total 42 chromosomes from which 23 comes from mother and other 23 comes from father.....
father have two sex chromosomes X and Y , mother have both X chromosomes which individually contains 23 chromosomes
so if father's Y chromosomes is fertilized with mother's X then the individual is male and if father's X chromosomes is fertilized with mother's X Chromosomes then individual is female....
