valves are present only in veins so that the blood does not flow back.in veins the blood flows in normal pressure so there is every chance of blood flowing back . in arteries the valves are absent as the blood flows in a high pressure so it cant flow back.

the main function of the valves in the veins is to prevent back flow of blood.blood in the arteries,after being pumped by the heart,are under much higher pressure than blood in veins so there is no neex for valves in arteries to prevent back flow.
