A structure or organism that represents a thallus is known as thalloid. Thallus is the undifferentiated ‘vegetative tissue’ of some organisms belonging to the group of algae, fungi, lichens, liverworts, etc. Spirogyra is a free-floating ‘green algae’ with a long filamentous body structure.  

This vegetative structure of Spirogyra is unbranched, multicellular, made of mononucleated cells cylindrically joined end-to-end. It is because of this structure that Spirogyra plant body is a thalloid.
