Sponge is porous solid.
A sponge has minute holes, in which air is trapped , when we pressed it, the air is expelled out and we are able to compress,

we know the other property of compressibility is that on comprising it come back in same shape, thats why it is considered as solid.

heya !!!

■ Solid cannot be compressed but sponge is a exception .

■Solid is compressible because it is having MINUTE PORES IN WHICH AIR IS TRAPPED on pressing the air expelled .

■It is is still considered as a solid because IT HAS DEFINITE VOLUME AND SHAPE WHICH DOES NOT CHANGES UNLESS COMPRESSED.

hope it helps u dear ^_^
