Size of anion is greater than size of parent atom because when parent atom gains electrons from other atoms to complete their octet they also get one more shell.

because an extra electron is added to the shell i.e 8 by which there is a more repulsion among electrons ,resulting in the decrease the nuclear charge and thus increase the atomic Radius
