Let us take a simple example. Just as in most of the houses the supreme power is under the control of grand father or grand mother here they work as a government at the center , government for the entire country that is usually responsible for a few subject of common national interest . where father and mother works as the government at the state which look after much of the day-to-day administering of their province . Both of the government goes hand in hand and equally essential for a successful Democracy .
So , the idea of this state and central government came form Federalism , it is a system of government in which the power is divided between a central authority and various constituent units of the country. Now the another question came up is why do we need this system? so , the whole idea is of power sharing which has emerged in opposition to the notions of undivided political power .

State government is important especially in India where the population is large. The state goverment will be of use to the people from different regions in india where the cental government is not able to reach. The cental governmrnt is usually concerned with few serious matter that usually affect the country as whole. Some of the problems may be affectting a certain region alone and this will not force the government work out the problem unless it affects the whole country. If the state government is present it is able to address the issue since it affect its state compared to centsal government. CMM
