In Brazil, mainly the South and South-east with São Paulo underwent rapid urbanisation thus emerging as a major, metropolitan and industrial area. This growth in a few parts of the country-influenced the government to promote the “Go West” policy. This helps to reduce pressure on a few areas where the population is concentrated and also leads to reduce the regional imbalance in the country.
