the smell of hot sizzling food reaches us at distance due to diffusion of kinetic energy of particles in air.. due to high temperature the kinetic energy of particles diffuse faster reaches us at a distance whereas in old food the kinetic energy of particles do not diffuse in air..

it is because of diffusion.particles move from its higher concentration to its lower concentration.the factor temperature affects on it just like higher the temperature,fastor is the rate of diffusion.soooo when it is hot it spreads through the room but when it is cool....it spreads slowly..
