Give reason to the following: -
a) Water hyacinth (aquatic plant) float on water surface
b) Intercellular spaces are absent in sclerenchymatous tissues​

Answer:

a) water hyacinth for aquatic plants floats on water because of the presence of parenchyma cells in the form of of hydrophytes which which provides buoyancy to the plants so that they can float on water surface .

b)intercellular space are absent in sclerenchyma tissues because this are made up of dead cells and intracellular space present between eight are filled with ligninwhich provides rigidity to the plant surface so if the intercellular spaces are present then it will be difficult for it to with stand the harsh environment conditions.
