Answer:

This reaction is based upon free radical substitution concept, i.e, it is completed in form of free radical mechanism. So, in presence of sunlight the substitution takes place from side chain while in presence of FeBr3 substitution takes place from benzene nucleus.Read more on Sarthaks.com - https://www.sarthaks.com/311695/toluene-reacts-bromine-presence-benzyl-bromide-while-presence-febr3-gives-bromotoluene

Answer:

Hello Dear.

Toluene when re-fluxed with bromine (Br₂ ) in the "presence of sunlight " .

Note→Here presence of sunlight is important.

Reaction ⇒ In this reaction hydrogen of Toluene will displaced by Bromine.

_______________________________________

C₆H₅CH₃ + Br₂ ------(Sunlight)---→ C₆H₅CH₂Br

Toluene+bromine --(sunlight)--→ Benzyl Bromide

Explanation-  Also this reaction is the best example of free radical substitution( Only when the present of sunlight or UV ) .

Hope it Helps.
