there are hairs present in our nose which purify the air we breathe moreover as the air passes through the nassal passage there is mucus which also helps to purify the air and hence the nose purify the air whereas the mouth takes all the contaminants along with air which can make us seriously ill

You can notice that your nasal cavity and your mouth cavity has differences... your nasal cavity has adaptations which helps you to breathe, but you don't find most of those adaptations in your mouth. For e.g, your nose has cilia and mucus which traps dust,pollen,and harmful bacteria, but even though you are fully capable to breathe through your mouth, you don't find these adaptations in your mouth. This is why it is always advisable to breathe through your nose and not your mouth.
