Give reason why alkyl halides are immiscible with water.

Answer:

because the alkyl halides are non polar in nature so cannot in a polar solvent like water.

further alkyl halides have dipole-dipole interactions among them while the water have hydrogen bonding so alkyl halides couldn't form strong hydrogen bonds with water and hence it's insoluble in water.
