In the Deccan Coastal Region, the soil is non-porous, gets darker in colour (black) as the river flows over the Black Regur soil and some of which they carry away.

The Alluvial soils of Coastal region are black in color since soil contain alluvium which is brought by the rivers.  The alluvium is from the Deccan region which have 'volcanic origins' hence they are black in color

Explanation:

  • The coastal reason region consist of alluvium which is brought by the rivers and is black in color due to the sediments that are brought by the rivers. These sediments consists of stones, gravel, silt and more and they mix with the soil
  • The color of these sediments are black since they are part of the Deccan regions and the alluvial soil consist of  materials from the volcanic regions of the western ghats and also the Arabian sea which flow into the rivers and are carried as sediments
  • The alluvium which is found in the inland regions does not get renewed fast but the alluvium in the coastal regions gets accumulated very fast at the mouth of the rivers
