1. Convicts are kept behind bars so that they do not repeat the same mistakes they did before begin arrested.

2. They are kept behind bars so that they do not interfere with evidence. For instance if the case is still being investigated.

3. They are kept behind bars as a punishment for others to even see and learn in case they were planning to commit the same offense.

4. Convicts are kept behind bars to serve justice to the families that were offended or affected.
