because gases are placed randomly and try to move in all directions from higher concentration to lower concentration that is the reason why the the gases exert pressure in directions

Reason for solid and liquid exert pressure in all directions:

  • Gases usually exert pressure in all directions because the molecules of the gas will be very far from each other and will have large inter-molecular spaces thereby causing the large inter-molecular forces between them.
  • These molecules will always move from high concentration to low concentration.
  • The containers will be having high concentration in it and the atmosphere around will be of low concentration.
  • When it suddenly released from the container it quickly tries to spread due to more inter-molecular forces and gets dispersed by exerting a huge amount of pressure in all directions.
