When hair is pulled, it causes pressure in the hair roots. So it is painful. However, during haircut, hair is cut from the ends, which does not cause any pressure on the head/hair roots.

Cotton garments are very light. They are made to be worn during warm climate to keep the body cool, and hence can't be worn during winter.
