potassium (K) is kept immersed in kerosene oil because potassium reacts vigorously with air and water. potassium is a very reactive metal. when they come in contact with air or water, the react vigorously and can catch fire. so they are kept immersed in kerosene oil as we know that kerosene oil is non-reactive.
