When it will absent, plants will exhibit characteristic deficiency symptom Magnesium is taken up by plant as the divalent cation (Mg2+) . It have specific role in the activation of enzyme involved in respiration, photosynthesis and the synthesis of DNA & RNA. It is also a part of ring structure of chlorophyll molecule. A characteristic symptom of magnesium deficiency is chlorosis between the leaf veins, occurring first in the older leaves because of the mobility of this element. An additional symptom of magnesium deficiency may be pre mature leaf abscission.
