theunderdog420: this is so because of the absence of free electrons in carbon compounds but in cases like graphite, there is one free electron per atom hence it conducts electricity.

The bonding between these molecules are not very strong and since the bonding between theses compounds doesn't give rise to any ions ..so these compounds are poor conductors of electricity.
