Because spikes are not smooth they are rough. And the more objects are rough the more you will be able to stay still. Its is because rough objects interlock with the surface and you won't fall . If you wear normal shoes there are more chances that you will fall because the friction which holds you will be less . Thats why sports men wear spike shoes while running or playing
