Give reason why reactivity of aluminium decreases if it is dipped in HNO3

This is because a layer of oxide coating is formed on the surface of the metal which prevents the reaction to take place. Passive oxidation of aluminum with concentrated HNO3 forms a layer of oxide over its surface which prevents further oxidation.
