In a single displacement reaction, a more reactive metal displaces a less reactive metal from its salt solution to form its respective salt solution. This takes place only when amore reactive metal is added to the salt solution of a less reactive metal. But the reverse is not possible as the less reactive metal which is displaced in the reaction cannot further displace the more reactive metal which displaced it.

In single displacement reaction, the element with higher reactivity displaces the element with low reactivity, but the element with higher reactivity can't be displaced by the element with low reactivity again.........
So, It is called irreversible reaction....
