Give reason why the lower part of sugarcane is sweeter?

Lower part of sugar is sweeter because Gravity plays a significant role. Actually, there is sugar dissolved in saps and stored in the roots from that the sugar are pushed to upward but due to Gravitational force much amount of sugar remains in the lower part of the Sugarcane.
