a step up transformer increases voltage and decreases current and thus the secondary coil of a step up transformer has smaller current than primary and thus it's secondary coil is thinner as compared to its primary coil so that the secondary coil has greater resistance than primary coil

Answer:

In a step-up transformer, the primary coil is made of thicker wire. This is because in a step-up transformer the number of turns in the secondary coil is more than the number of turns in the primary coil.
