Here is the reason for why whales are not grouped with fishes:
☆Whales have mammary glands which is a specific feature of that of mammals.
☆Whales give birth to young one whereas fishes lay eggs
☆Whales also have sweat glands.
☆Whales have lungs for respiration as well as other mammals while fishes respire through gills
Therefore fishes are grouped with mammals thus include in the family of mammalia wherias fishes are in the family of pisces.

Hi friend,
The reasons of not grouping whales with fishes are:-
1. A whale is a mammal, not a fish.
2. Whales have lungs unlike fish which have gills.
3. Whales are warmblooded but fish are cold-blooded.
4.Whales give birth to live young ones and have mammary glands to provide milk to their young ones but fish lay eggs.
5.Whales have four-chambered heart, while fishes have a two-chambered heart.
Hope it helps!
