Give reasons - 1.A table is solid at room tempreature
2. Ice floats on water
3. Ice at 273 K more effective in cooling than water at same tempreature
For any substance, why does tempreature remained constant during the change of state?

2) ice floats on water because ice has some air trapped in it, which helps it to float
3) ice at 273 k is more effective in cooling because it still has the cooling which will be lost by supplying latent heat.
temperature remains constant bcoz the heat produced is used in changing the state of that substance and no heat is left to change temperature at that point.

Ans1-
A table is solid at room temperature because molecules of table are tightly packed and wood have no melting point so it can't melt thus table is solid at room temperature...

Ans2-
Ice float on water because ice is less dense then water . ice have small pores that trap air from surrounding and due to this reason ice float on water.

Ans3-
This is because cooling take place when heat is removed from system ,so at same temperature of 273 degree large amount of heat removed by ice from surrounding than in case of water.hence ice is more effective then water at 273 degree kelvin.
