1) One can look at past economic and cultural trends and be able to offer reasonable predictions of what will happen next in todays world...The ability to think, reflect, debate, discuss and evaluate the past, formulating and refining questions and lines of enquiry. Hence it is not mere record of kings and queens.

2) India has faced many invasions from the north-west as the Himalayas in ghe north and the Indian Ocean surrounding and peninsula were insurmountable barriers in ancient times... They provide a gateway through which the country could be reached and thus, they became the means to launch invasions into India.
