Plains have very fertile land because it has mostly alluvial soil present there and it also recieve very good amount of rainfall every year. That's why the people who are connected to mostly primary sector they mostly want to reside on the plains.

the large no people have settled to plains from mountains  because they are faulted and deformed due to natural disasters like earthquakes and many reasons.therefore mountains are less populated than plains
