Answer:

a.When a beam of light is passed through a colloidal solution, where the size of the constituent particles is comparable to that of the wavelength of the light beam, the beam of light is scattered in such a way that its path or trajectory becomes visible and this phenomenon of scattering of light making its path visible is termed as Tyndall Effect.

b.The suspended small particles of muddy water are negatively charge which inhibit them to settle down due to repulsion. On adding alum to this muddy water, removes the negative charge from the particles. This particles forms clump easily, become heavier and settles down.
