a. The headwaters of River Ganga are Bhagirathi and  is joined by Alaknanda at Devaprayag.
b. Ganga plain- It exists between  Ghaggar and the Tista rivers. and extends in the states of UP, Haryana,Bihar.  The ganga plain is subdivided into upper, middle, lower part and indeed is fertile region and apt for agricultural production. The river Ganga holds a spiritual significance and is considered as a holy river by Hindus.
c. Tributaries: Some of the main tributaries of river Ganga are Yamuna which meets Ganga at Allhabad, then Kosi, gandhak,, Chambal, the Betwa and the Son flow which  from peninsular uplands.
