When a candle burns, the oxygen in the air reacts and forms carbon dioxide. A new substance, the CO2 is formed. So it is a chemical change. When the candle melts, no new substance is formed and the molten wax can be again solidified and made into a candle.

Explanation:

Because in chemical change the substances are convert into new substance and it's chemical properties change

When candle is burnt it reacts with oxygen some of its part changes into gases such as Carbon dioxide etc ...

and the chemical property of candle changes

But when candle is only melted not burnt it is physical change because only state is change

So there is a difference between melting and burning ......burning of candle is chemical and melting is physical change

Hope it help...
