There are two types of chemical changes occurs in nature that is exothermic and endothermic reactions.

The reactions which produces heat are called as exothermic reactions.

The reaction which requires heat to enable the reaction to takes place are called as endothermic reaction.

Magnesium is a elemental form,after burning in the presence of oxygen in air , it changes to magnesium oxide that is a powder form as there is a formation of chemicals there is a breakdown of chemical bond. so it is considered as chemical change.
