give reasons elements in a group have simple chemical properties.
The chemical elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic number. The horizontal rows are called periods and the vertical columns are called groups.Elements in the same group have similarchemical properties. This is because they have the same number of outer electrons and the same valency.

Here's Your Answer ^-^
The chemical properties of elements depend upon the number of electrons in their Valence shell.
Since we know that elements in same group have similar electronic configuration i.e. same number of electron in the valence shell, they are known to possess same chemical properties!
For example,
Group 17 which is called Halogens have the following similar properties ^-^
* they are coloured non metals
* they are very reactive and are therefore found in combined state
* they are good oxidising agents
Hole this helps!!
