1) The adipose tissue as an insulator of heat:

The adipose tissue is one of the three types of loose connective tissues. The adipose tissue is composed of adipocytes which are actually fat filled loose connective tissue cells.

The fat in the adipocytes are largely responsible for the insulating property of the adipose tissue. This is because fat is a poor conductor of heat. The fat thus ensures that excessive heat is neither lost or gained by the body.

This is useful to the body as it is important for protection against both hypothermia (drastic drop in core body temperature) and hyperthermia (drastic rise in the core body temperature).

2) The epidermis as a protective layer to plants:

The epidermis, is a single layer of cells that forms the outer covering of plant flowers, stems, leaves and roots. The covering is in all these structures except at the part where it is replaced by a periderm.

The cells of the epidermis are tightly packed together forming a mechanical barrier. This mechanical barrier is important to protect against bacterial infection and other harsh environmental conditions.

The epidermis is covered by both cutin and cuticle( which provides waxy protective layer). These two compounds protect the plant from excessive loss of water, the effects of direct sunlight and wind.

1.
Adipose tissues are actually fat storing cells and are on almost all organs. Adipose tissues are actually fat having almost no blood vessels and water so they are resistant to heat and cold transfer that's why they act as insulators.
2.
Epidermis is the outermost layer of the plants body parts e.g. roots, shoots, flowers etc. Epidermis cells are single layered but closely packed forming a barrier which protects plants from harsh environmental conditions. Epidermis is covered by cuticle and chitin which protects plants from extensive sunlight and it also protects plants from excessive water loss.
