Give reasons for the following.
1. Gases diffuse very fast.
2. The Brownian motion is faster in gases than in liquids.
3. Gases and liquids are known as fluids.
4. Hydrogen is highly combustible and oxygen helps in burning, but their combination
(water) extinguishes fire.
5. Helium exists as a single atom.

Answer:

1.high kinetic energy and greater intermolecular space and randomness among the molecules causes the gases to diffuse rapidly. Answer: The energy in gas molecules is very high compared to liquids and solids. As these particles have high energy and a lot of space in which to move, they diffuse comparitivelyquickly.

2.. BINDING ENERGY IN LIQUIDS IS GREATER THANIN GASSES or we can also say that the attractive force acting in case of a gass is less than to a liquid ,so the molecules face less force while their movement orBROWNIAN MOTION when they are in gass phase soBROWNIAN MOTION IS faster in case of a gass than to aliquid .

3.Liquids and gases are called fluids because they can be made to flow, or move. In any fluid, the molecules themselves are in constant, random motion, colliding with each other and with the walls of any container.

4.water is a compound of hydrogen and oxygen. ... Water vapours also surround thecombustible material, helps in cutting off the supply of air. So, the fire is extinguished. Therefore hydrogen is a combustible gas andoxygen is a supporter of combustion but water extinguishes fire

5.Helium is a inert gas and So, it does not react with any other substances so, theatom of helium is very stable and dies not combine with any other atom
