Give reasons for the following:-
1. Liquids can flow
2. Liquids tend to evaporate when left exposed to air.

  1. Liquids have a higher density than gases and a much lower density than solids.We know that the particles of matter attract each other because of the intermolecular forces of attraction and this is the reason why the partocles of liquide tend to flow.Because of their this caracteristic they are know as fluids.
  2. For a substance to change its form it must uave enough kinetic energy and the liquid gains this energy from the surrounding and then with this kinetic energy it become gas and thus it evaporates.
  3. Solids have a much higher intermolecular forces of attraction which gives it a fixed shape and has very little intermolecular spaces between the particles and hence have a fixed size.
