Give reasons for the following
1) water navigation is difficult in southern Africa?
2)Zanzibar is known as 'Clove island'?

1. The Niger and Congo river are well nevigable but due to some losses the earn no money

2. In Zanzibar there are very vast production of Cloves that is why it is known as cloves island

(1) Although there are the Congo and Niger river in southern Africa yet navigation is difficult in the area as there are not many rivers and moreover, due to losses, it is not very feasible for water navigation.

(2) Zanzibar has abundant clove growing facilities. Till the 1960s and 70s, the government controlled the clove prices. Earlier, they were mostly grown on the Pemba and Moluccan islands but now, there are more areas of growth and therefore, Zanzibar is the third largest supplier of cloves in the world.
