a) a ball gradually rolls and then slows down because as long as the ball has a speed, it continues to move but slowly and gradually  it loses its speed thus it stops.
b) this happens because of gravity. gravity pulls the the water to the ground.
c)groves are provided to maintain the friction.. it also helpps to keep small pebbles away
d) if machine parts are not oiled reguralry, it may get rusted. 
e) to avoid friction and for playing smoothly.
