a. Constipation occurs when the colon completed dehydrated and when the diet lacks fibrous content. This causes issues in bowel movement and is termed as constipation.

So, in order to overcome constipation, doctors advice patients to eat a lot of fruits and drink plenty of water so that the diet contains fibrous content and the colon gets hydrated. Through these, patients will recover and can overcome constipation.

b. We know that the thyroid gland produces a hormone known as thyroxine. For the proper production and secretion of this gland, a person's diet must contain iodine. Hence, it is recommended to include iodized salt in our diet.

c.  There are two reasons for this answer as explained below:

→Unavailability of vegetarian food - Due to the presence of harsh climatic conditions, the growth is plant life is very low in cold regions.

→ To insulate and regulate body temperature - In order to adapt and get accustomed to the harsh climatic conditions prevailing in cold regions, people must consume protein rich food to increase calories and to insulate themselves.

Some Important Points:

✳ Fibrous food - Fibrous food is a must in our diet as they reduce risks of heart diseases, diabetes and constipation. This nutrient is absorbed in the large intestine [colon] and is also termed as roughage.

✳ Thyroxine - Thyroxine is a very important hormone secreted by the thyroid gland. They help in the proper functioning of the kidneys and the liver and help to maintain proper growth and functioning of the brain and the heart.

✳ Protein-rich food - Proteins, which are also referred to as energy-giving nutrients is another must in the diet. They contribute to the proper maintenance of the areolar tissue and keeps the body insulated during extreme weather conditions.
