1. Ceilings have air trapped within them.
Air is a poor conductor of heat and hence do not allow flow of heat from either the room to the atmosphere or cold air from the atmosphere to the room and hence the room is kept warm.
2. A clinical thermometer has a limited range of scale centered around the body temperature. Since the flame is of high temperatures, the clinical thermometer will not accommodate the reading of the temperature of the flame and hence it cannot be used to measure the temperature of the flame.
