(a) Iron rims are heated red hot before
I red hot before 'lixing' them on cart wheels,
mometer has a slight bend, or kink, in its capillary tube
(b) A clinical thermometer has a slight bend or link in its capillary tube

a) Because metals expand on heating therefore they will increase in diameter

This will help them to get fixed to the wheel

When the metal cools down it will contract and fit tightly to the wheel

b) this bend is called a kink and it prevents the mercury from dropping after taken out from the mouth and it helps us to get the correct temperature
