Answer:

a) electrostatic attraction
b) dissolved salt in water
c) electric conductivity
d) prevent scratches

Explanation:

a)Sodium chloride is composed of sodium ions and chlorine ions. When they are in solid form, the electrostatic force of attraction is high, and there won't be any mobile ions. Mobile or free electrons are responsible for the electric conductivity. However, when it becomes a solution, sodium ions and chlorine ions form separately and thus conduct electricity.

b) Even though normal water can't conduct electricity, the presence of salts in it makes water an electric conductor. Rain would have a significant amount of dissolved salt in it. Therefore, repairing electricals in the rain can cause an electric shock.

c) Electrolysis is a process in which electricity is used to convert water into oxygen and hydrogen, its basic components. But normal water cannot conduct electricity, but salts in it can. Therefore, a small amount of sulphuric acid is added to the water for better electric conductivity for carrying out electrolysis.

d) Kitchen gas burners are prone to scratches and damages. Chromium is the third in terms of hardness. Because of this feature of chromium, to prevent scratches, it is coated in the kitchen gas burners using the plating method.
