Give reasons for the following : (a) Two thermocol balls, held close to each other, move away from each other when they are released. (b) One should stay inside the vehicle, if already in it, during lightning strikes. (c) Heavy appliances and furniture should be nailed firmly to the walls​

(a) Electrostatic force. The balls have similar charges. They move away due to repulsion between similar charges.

(b) You're safe in a car because the lightning will travel around the surface of the vehicle and then go to ground. This occurs because the vehicle acts like a Faraday cage.
