Give reasons for the following

a) We always earth the metallic body of all electrical appliances and devices we use.

b) Metals do not get charged up on rubbing.

c) Plastic comb gets charged on rubbing.

d) Lightning may cause tall buildings and TV tower to get burnt out.

e) An uncharged can be charged when brought in contact of charged object.​

Answer:

A) The metallic body of electric appliances is connected to the earth using earth wire so that any leakage of electric current is transferred to the ground. This prevents any electric shock to the user.

b) If a material is an insulator, then electrons cannot flow through it and get stuck with in it. But in case of metals as steel, electrons flow easily through it. Thus, they move back to material easily from which they are coming. Thus no charge can be produced on steel by rubbing.18-Nov-2017
